Other than the 9 fundamentals mentioned,
all professional photographers also ask themselves the following three questions
before creating the pictures:
1. What is the theme or message of the photograph? A theme is different from a photograph's
title. A theme is basically the idea or reason for that particular photograph to
be shot that way. A theme can be on anything such as "Celebration" and
the photographs using the theme will most likely be of an anniversary, a birthday
party, a wedding or a group of people offering a

toast. That is what a theme means.
2. Which is to be the main subject of the picture? The one that attracts attention
from anyone who looks at it and instantly knows which one is the main subject without
having to ask the concerned photographer. In other words, it is the centre of attention
and the most powerful element for all photographs.
3. What to take? Keep it simple. There's no need to show a lot of unwanted details
in the photograph which will distract a viewer's attention from the main subject.
Simplify the picture by keeping the necessary elements and taking out the unnecessary
ones.
There you have it, the techniques and skills of the trade used by professional photographers
to create better pictures. However, like many other things, rules are meant to be
broken. A lot of master photographers around the world have at times, broken the
rules of photography to create their own respective styles.
But for beginners and amateur photographers, it is better for them to learn and master
the necessary techniques in order to create better pictures before breaking the rules
and creating their own respective styles.
