Using themes to expand your creativity.

In the previous issue, EOS users and other photo enthusiasts alike were shown how to make full use of the three essential questions that form the basis for composing your pictures.

In this issue, the focus is on selecting a theme for your shoot. Selecting a theme can sometimes be a headache, especially when you are not sure whether the subject matters you have shot will match the theme you have chosen.

To make it easier for yourself, try selecting a theme that is more appropriate and easy to shoot rather than exotic themes that are more difficult to achieve. It is better to go for something that is available around you than something that is beyond your reach.

For example, it is easier to choose a theme like "Models" rather than "Supermodels" when you know very well the chances of having the world's supermodels posing for your camera is just another fantasy (unless you really are a renowned fashion photographer) at the moment.

If you have been following Canon Marketing Malaysia's "The Art of Photography" column very closely since issue No.1, you should have remembered all the techniques described previously to enable you to shoot better pictures with your EOS cameras.

In this page and the next two are some examples of ordinary subject matters that were shot based on three separate themes. The first theme, on this page, is about COLOUR. The other two themes are ABSTRACT and CLOSE-UPS respectively.

Happy surfing!
