How about available light? No
problem here. If you are not an EOS-1N, EOS 5 or EOS-3 user, the Partial metering
mode is your only option in the AE shooting modes available in other EOS models if
the Evaluative system is not the preferred choice.
However, shooting in available
or low-light photography can be a little tricky with the Partial metering since not
all scenes may have the desired subject size suitable for use in this mode. In this
case, the AE Lock feature, available in all the beginner and amateur EOS models,
come in handy when Partial metering is used, especially if you happen to be shooting
with fast aperture zoom lenses for available light photography.
