For example, if you want to capture
high-speed action-like sports, the easiest way to do that is by using the Sports
variation of the EOS 300's Programmed Image Control (PIC) mode. Capturing motorcycle
racing, whether the local underbone bike series or the FIM World Motorcycling Championship,
is possible with this camera.

However, timing and patience are
a must in order for the EOS 300 to have a higher rate of success in capturing high-speed
action in sharp focus. The blurred photo of 500cc rider, Carlos Checa (above), was
not due to the EOS 300's AF system. Unlike the high-end EOS cameras, a user is not
able to choose between One-Shot or AI Servo AF shooting modes manually.
When I simply aimed the EOS 300
at the rider, who was in close proximity, the camera had yet to set either of its
AF modes. Although the camera sensed movement and automatically selected AI Servo
AF, it was too late for me to get a good shot of Checa as he "vroomed"
past in front of me.
