While 1/500 sec is usually needed
for capturing motorcycling GPs, always try to capture the bikes at an angle where
the freezing of the wheels is not that obvious. The Intelligent Program AE is not
suitable for capturing bike GPs due to the high shutter speeds that your EOS camera
is very likely to select based on the focal length of the lens used.
Whether you are using a 300mm,
400mm. 500mm or 600mm focal lengths, the Program AE mode is very likely to select
a shutter speed as high as 1/2500 sec, depending on the level of brightness of the
shooting atmosphere! At this speed, practically all movements of the bikes and the
panning background will not register on film.
