While Shutter-priority AE is a
better choice for available or low light photography, Aperture-priority AE can also
be used for this purpose, as long as you make sure that the shutter speed selected
by your camera is fast enough for handheld shooting. It is also to be used if you
wanted more depth-of-field in your available light shots, as compared to using Tv
mode, where the shutter speed selected may not give the f-stop you desired.
