PERSPECTIVE: Perspective refers to the relative size of elements from front to
back. It, too, varies inversely with focal length. That is, with a wide-angle lens,
things seem comparatively farther apart than they do with a normal lens. Conversely,
a telephoto lens makes various things seem closer together than they actually are.
This compressing of distant elements with a telephoto lens is sometimes called "stacking"
and is one of the most interesting properties offered by long lenses.
