How to make full use of the
Canon EOS 88 SLR.
Okay, there's no denying that this issue concentrate solely on how to make the best
out of the Canon EOS 88 AF 35mm SLR camera. While this camera has been reviewed previously
in the Nuts & Bolts issue No: 5, the reason it is been featured again over here
in The Art of Photography column is due to two reasons: it is the best-selling EOS
in Malaysia, and also the market leader where SLR cameras are concerned.
With that, a lot of the users
of this model would like to know how well can it be used to shoot pictures in a much
more sophisticated environment - professional photography. As I have mentioned all
along, it is not the camera but the photographer who makes the difference in getting
a great shot or a lousy one. Here I will demonstrate that by using the EOS 88 with
a variety of EF lenses make it possible to create beautiful pictures. It is known
as the EOS 88 in the South East Asian market as well as China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In Europe, it is known as the EOS 3000.
The EOS 88, like any other EOS
models, is able to use the entire lineup of EF lenses available, of which there are
currently more than 56 excellent optics to choose from. The reality is, not everyone
will be able to use every one of the lenses available, regardless of whether one
is an EOS 888, EOS 88, EOS 300, EOS 50/50E, EOS 5, EOS-3 or EOS -1N owner.

Still, that does not mean that
great pictures can't be produced with a handful of EF lenses. In this issue, I will
show you how to create excellent pictures using only four EF Lenses with the EOS
88. The lenses are the EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III (supplied with EOS 88 as a kit), EF
75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, EF 50mm f/1.4 and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM.
Okay, it is true that not many
EOS 88 owners will have the opportunity to use the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM as featured
in this column but it happen to be one of the EF lenses that I have. For those who
do own this L-series zoom lens or have access to one, you can be sure that the EOS
88 will benefit from its use. Furthermore, images shot with this L-series zoom lens
was only confined to daytime shots in this issue despite its bright f/2.8 maximum
aperture.
