How to make full use of your Canon EOS 300 camera.

The Canon EOS 300 was featured in the Nuts and Bolts issue No: 14. However, that issue was just a general field-test based on a "first impression" basis as the camera was newly-launched then and made available during the first quarter of 1999. Its availability then also gave me the opportunity to test it out at the opening round of the FIM World Motorcycle Championship held at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia.

Being a professional, there is naturally no problem whatsoever for me in using the EOS 300 (also known as the EOS Rebel 2000 in the North American market) to record any image that I wanted. But then again, most people buying the EOS 300 are not professionals and neither are they keen amateur shooters but rather beginners and people new to SLR photography. This is what this issue is all about, showing these owners how to make full use of this fine camera.

As every owner already knows, the EOS 300 is a very different camera from others in its class. For a start, it's light, compact and comes with a range of ground-breaking features, like the 7-point autofocus, 35-zone Evaluative metering plus Depth-of-Field preview. It is also incredibly easy to use. You can select from any number of shooting options, from fully automatic to completely manual. It doesn't make any difference for those who are completely new to SLR photography, since they will be amazed at how easy it is to use the EOS 300 to create great pictures.

Even for those owners who have had some experience in photography, they will find the EOS 300 a delightful companion for all their shooting endeavors. With the list of features available, all they need is the right EF lens to record on film the images which they seek. In Malaysia, the EOS 300 is available in three options: body only, with the EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II zoom lens offered as a kit form, with or without QD (Quartz Date) camera body.
