Intelligent Program AE
Choose the 'P' mode for Intelligent
Program AE. The camera will set both the shutter speed and aperture for the exposure.
But you still retain control. Turning the main dial will alter the shutter speed/aperture
combination but the exposure value stays the same. You can select the best possible
combination to suit your subject.

P mode with Evaluative metering |

You can use the P mode with any EF
lens or the metering patterns of the EOS 50 and it will select the appropriate combination
for the best results. For the first photo, I simply zoomed in the lens to the 200mm
focal length and memorized the reading with AE Lock, set it back to 70mm, recomposed
and clicked the shutter. The Center-weighted meter was able to cope with this still-life
subject for the second photo while Partial metering was used for the third shot,
with the reading based from the 'Danger' sign on the right side. Evaluative metering
made the available light shot an easy task.
