Personally speaking, most of the
time when I really did made full use of whether to use fast or slower shutter speeds
is whenever I am covering motorcycle racing, like the FIM World Motorcycling Championship
of which I have the accreditation to cover one race annually for the Malaysian leg.
On this page and the next three pages, are some pictures of the 500cc motorcycling
Grand Prix that I have covered over the past few years.

Rain caused havoc on the track --
reducing the light level for hand-held shooting but a monopod fitted to my EF 300mm
f/2.8L USM allowed a slow shutter of 1/30 sec. (at ISO 100) and gave me a nice picture
showing motion via the splashing water upon impact by the 125cc bike (1996 season). |

Italian rider, Doriano Romboni, astride
his Aprilia 460cc twin-cylinder bike - panning, shot at 1/160 sec. (ISO 100 - hand-held).
Also shot during the 1996 season. |
 |
Romboni, captured here in a-coming-toward-the-lens
shot, at 1/250 sec (ISO 100 - hand-held) (1996 season). |
 |
American rider, Kevin Schwantz (34)
fights it out with teammate Daryl Beattie (4), in 1995 season. |
 |
Japanese rider Norrick Abe, takes
a corner, shot at 1/250 sec. (ISO 100) (1996 season). |
