If there is any problem with using
EOS cameras once you have mastered all the features available (as well as having
adequate photography skill), it is ending up with a lot of great pictures from a
particular shoot, more than enough to fill your needs. On this page is a gallery
of these extra shots, of which some of them have already been showcased previously
in this column as well as in Nuts & Bolts. They represent the balance from past
assignments and photo sessions that have produced more useable shots than were actually
needed. All of them are considered successful by having conformed to the three essential
questions in photography.
Okay, the themes (first essential question) may vary from one to another, in fact
anyone can name a different theme for each of the pictures shown below and they need
not be the same as mine. The respective themes for them appear as the picture titles:

The theme of "Smile"
doesn't seem to match the final picture as shown above? How did I know in the first
place that this theme would be the chosen one for an event like this, a news conference
of HK celebrities? Simple. In any news conference, the celebrities will smile for
the camera, including those who pose for individual photographers. In covering this
type of event, the theme is either "Smile" or "Candid".
Of course, you can add "Celebrities" to the list but if the person happens
to be an unknown in other parts of the world, how will they know whether this particular
theme suits the picture, anyway?
