The color reproductions and the
grain structure of most ISO 200 films are comparable to an ISO 100 type, giving the
photographer an extra stop of speed when shooting in low light conditions, like during
certain evenings when the sun is hiding behind the clouds earlier than usual or when
you need extended depth-of-field coverage for the Speedlite on your camera. It can
also be used for glamour photography, whether outdoors or in the studio, without
sacrificing the flexibility available from an ISO 100 film.

ISO 400 film
The ISO 400 emulsion is available in B/W, color print, consumer slide film as
well as professional-type and APS format. It is also the standard among Press photographers
and photojournalists the world over as the extra two stops (over ISO 100) of speed
enable them to shoot virtually anything under the sun, with fine grain, contrast
and superb color reproduction. The improvements in film technologies have enabled
manufacturers to produce ISO 400 films matching those qualities attained by the ISO
100-type of the mid-80s. While the grain structure still cannot match those of present-day
ISO 100-types, it is not a thing that bothers professional photographers working
for newspapers, foreign news and sports agencies as the extra two stops of speed
will allow them to capture images that can otherwise be lost due to camera shake
if they use lower speed emulsions.

The above photos are some examples of subject matters a Press photographer will be
assigned to cover, even in a single day as he/she is required to go for several assignments,
which can range from hard news, entertainment, features to sports. Instead of packing
several types of film in his camera bag or photo vest, only one ISO speed category
is all that will be needed for the daily assignments.
On the next page are more examples of how one can use the ISO 400 speed film for
the various categories of photographic opportunities.
