Combining the fundamentals when shooting.

Okay, enough of the reminders. Here are examples of how the various fundamentals can be combined to create better pictures. The themes are specified for each batch of pictures that are presented here and in the next several pages. The themes for these three batches are simply exaggerated perspectives.

Theme: Exaggerated Perspective

Shot at 35mm

The first three pictures were shot with a 14mm focal length. For a start, this particular focal length already offers unbelievable exaggerated perspective distortion, and using it in most ways will no doubt give you the desired effect, anyway. For the first two, the foreground subjects as well as those in the sides were utilized as framing methods for their respective main subjects (skyscrapers in the middle) although I will say that the flowers of the second picture look more like the main attraction anyway. An aperture of f/8 ensured that the depth-of-field coverage was enough to cover everything from near to infinity in focus. The same f-stop was also used in the two other pictures from above, with the same fundamental (great depth-of-field) utilized.

For this batch below, the first picture is a combination of the lens' 35mm focal length (exaggerated), adequate depth-of-field and composition method to achieve the result. Next, a 20mm lens was slotted through the gaps of the fence from my side, where its focal length was wide enough to include the overall view of this scene into the whole frame. Always wondered what a Super wide-angle zoom lens could do? These two pictures were shot with the EF 17-35mm f/2.8L USM zoom lens.

As for these four pictures below, the first one was shot just by aiming the lens/camera combo upward while the second one was recorded at 20mm (EF 20-35mmL). The third one, well, you know the rider's head could not be possibly be bigger than the girl's, right?
