Theme: Glamour
How to shoot and what to bring along when you have the opportunity to shoot glamour
events close up? As in being part of the media and photographers invited to join
in the photo-calls for events like celebrity get-togethers, meet-the-fans sessions
or beauty pageant finalists' previews. Don't worry unnecessarily as to what type
of lenses of ISO film speed to use. Anything from 20mm to 300mm or zoom lenses having
these focal lengths will do nicely. As for films, ISO 100 for most beauty pageants'
Press previews and ISO 400 for most other indoor events.

In the four images above, the first one was shot at 28mm for an exaggerated look
and the second at 200mm for a compressed appearance. The difference here was that
the beauties in the foreground were larger than those further back while the telephoto
look have them all in similar sizes. Also, always look for something new and don't
just concentrate on shooting the same event like everyone else is doing. The group
photo of the beauty finalists is one example, where practicality every photographer
have shot it in this way, too. Well, I got closer from another viewpoint and got
this close-up portrait angle.

Freezing action photos or capturing them showing motions and panning mode have something
to do with the fundamental concerning shutter speeds. Motorsports are such an event
where both styles of capturing the subject matters can be accomplished in the same
manner - shoot a few showing motion or panning and concentrate on freezing the movements
in subsequent frames or rolls of film.
