Most photo enthusiasts have their own choices of placing the light source (flash) when shooting the subject using off-camera flash. Basically, the pictures shown below are some examples of what to expect when using the Off Camera Shoe Cord 2 attached to your EZ or EX series of Canon Speedlites with your AF 35mm SLR cameras.



Compared the three photos above and you can see that the first picture (from left) (direct flash), the shadow is a bit harsh and the images are somewhat flat while the second picture (bounced flash), the overall lighting effect is much softer. The shadows in the background have disappeared and the remaining shadows are softer, too.

The third picture (on right) also has softer shadows and images that are much lively than the first picture although there are some background shadows re-appearing toward the left side of the toys. But at least the new shadows are not as harsh as the first picture.
