Field-test of the Canon IXUS M-1
Advanced Photo System (APS) camera.
The new Canon IXUS M-1 camera is the fourth
Advanced Photo System (APS) model in the ultra-compact range after the successful
IXUS 240, IXUS L-1 and the IXUS Z70 versions where their sizes are smaller than an
audio cassette. (The IXUS Z90 zoom has a bigger body dimension than these four models).
Unlike the original IXUS 240 and Z70, the new M-1 model does not have a built-in
zoom lens. It has a built-in 23mm wide-angle lens with a maximum aperture of f/4.8.
The focal length is equivalent to a 29mm lens in the 35mm format.
Like most APS models, the new M-1 has several Magnetic Data (IX240) features that
are designed especially for the Advanced Photo System like the imprinting of data
in the finished prints, mid-roll rewind and a choice of three different print formats
of Classic, HDTV and Panorama in the same roll of film.
Aside from the standard APS features, the M-1 also has several features that are
"inherited" from Canon's 35mm point-and-shoot AF compacts like date and
time printing as well as five different short titles in five languages.
The languages are English, Japanese, French, Italian, German and Spanish. The titles
are:
1. I LOVE YOU
2. THANK YOU
3. SEASON'S GREETING
4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
5. CONGRATULATIONS
