Covering trade exhibitions with this
zoom lens is easy. With its 28mm wide-angle and up to 70mm of short telephoto focal
lengths available at your disposal, almost anything in a trade exhibit, ranging from
the products, display booths or the atmosphere can be captured using available light.
Close-ups
capability is another feature of this lens. Bear in mind that the close-up is to
enable users to shoot close-ups of certain things and this feature is not designed
for true macro photography. Subjects that can be shot using its close-up feature
are toys, books, CD-ROMs, glassware, portraits (at 70mm), plants, paintings or photographs
larger than 5x7 inches.
AF speed is fast and almost silent on the EF 28-70mm f/2.8L USM zoom lens. When
used with EOS cameras in the AI Servo AF mode, focus tracking with moving subjects
is easy as long as the subjects are within the camera's AF points. Since this a wide-angle
to short telephoto zoom lens, most of the moving subjects encountered are usually
people or sports where the action is close, like the starting grid of a marathon
or charity walk.
