Field-test of the Canon EF 55-200mm
f/4.5-5.6 USM zoom lens.
Exclusively designed for both the 24mm Advanced Photo System (APS) and regular 35mm
EOS cameras, this Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM zoom is a high performance autofocus
lens incorporating the application of an Ultrasonic Motor for high-speed and high
torque for autofocusing.
This rapid-focusing USM zoom lens is not only beneficial for sports photography but
also well-suited for portraits and close-ups as well as during your vacations.

Lens
Weighing at only 310 grammes, this zoom is one of the lightest Canon EF lenses and
uses a 52mm filter size. Like the EF 22-55mm f/4-5.6 USM and other EF zoom lenses
made for beginners, this lens uses an all-plastic construction for the barrel and
mount (and optical glass for its 13-group/13-element design).

This zoom lens is much more compact than both the original Canon EF 50-200mm f/3.5-4.5
AFD and its L-series version that were discontinued in 1990. With focal lengths ranging
from a standard 55mm all the way to 200mm, this lens has all the requirements needed
to ensure that owners of popular Canon models such as the EOS 888, 88, 500N or the
new EOS 300 shoot better pictures.

various focal lengths:
