Field-test of the Canon EF 300mm
f/2.8L USM Telephoto lens.
Weight aside, the EF 300mm f/2.8L
USM lens is also suitable for taking many familiar subjects. You can create effective
portraits with natural expressions because it keeps your distance far enough away
from the subject to remain unobtrusive. It is also perfect for otherwise unobtainable
pictures of animals and birds in the wild, as well as any subject that is too far
away from you.

Another application of this EF 300mm lens is close-ups, of plants or leaves, for
example. Or you can use the lens' incredible blurring of the background for that
compressed telephoto perspective effect that gives your photos more impact.

It is necessary, however, to use long telephoto lenses with care, especially when
pulling in distant landscape scenes. You should remember that the space between you
and the subject is filled with air pockets that you can't see but that may distort
your photos.
