What about the sharpness? Naturally, this being a Canon lens, EOS users have nothing to worry about the optical quality of the EF 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II zoom. The contrast and color rendition of this lens is also superb. One does not need to look far than the images reproduced here (except for the first four shots of the lens itself) for proof of this lens' capabilities to render detail, contrast level and color reproduction, including those shown below.

Again, the resolution of your Windows PC or Apple Macintosh monitor may not be able to show the true quality of the photos showcased in this column but rest assured that the EF 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II zoom lens is capable of producing top notch results.

How about distortion? There is a slight pincushion (less than 1 per cent) effect at the 200mm setting, hardly noticeable and no barrel distortion at the 80mm focal length. Don't take my word for it, just look at the two photos below of the world's tallest buildings, the Petronas Twin Towers, shot at the 200mm setting. Anyone notice any pincushion effect? Hardly.
