For panning shots, first, I decided to use the EF 100-400mm zoom lens with its IS Mode 2 switched OFF, just to see how the results will turn out. The three-picture sequence below of car No: 53 was shot without using the IS feature. The first shot was slightly blurred, due to camera shake but the other two were better as both the camera and the lens managed to track the car via the numerous decals pasted on its doors. Shutter speed used was 1/100 sec.

For the second test, this time with the IS Mode 2 switched ON, car No: 22 was captured in sharp focus throughout the entire five-picture sequence, as can be seen here. The shutter speed used was also 1/100 sec:

Viewing through the 4x Canon loupe, I am able to tell which of the images shown here is sharp and which is not. However, for the surfers visiting this site, the resolution of your Windows PC or Macintosh monitor may not be able to highlight the differences between camera shake and sharpness in some of the photos, especially those where the amount of blur is small.
