Field-test of the Canon IXUS X-1
Advanced Photo System camera.
For compact 35mm point-&-shoot
cameras, Canon has the AS-1 model that is designed for the great outdoors, including
the ability of shooting subjects underwater to a depth of 5m.
Now Canon has introduced a similar model for the Advanced Photo System (APS), known
as the IXUS X-1. This is the camera that you can use to charge down white water rapids,
on a raft or any other boats without worrying about water damaging it.
Whatever element you are up against, no equipment kit is complete without the Canon
IXUS X-1; a high tech compact camera designed for shooting extreme action in the
great outdoors. Everything about the IXUS X-1 is conceived to make it an essential
part of your adventure.

The camera's stylish, metallic-edged exterior is constructed of sturdy, protective
material. Canon has performed its Standard Test Method on the IXUS X-1's casing for
durability so users have nothing to worry about when using it outdoors, even when
the weather is not good.
The IXUS X-1's rounded shape makes it more robust than most ordinary compact cameras.
Plus, the IXUS X-1 remains compact enough to slip into a shirt pocket and is also
light that it can float in salt water (but its ability to float is lessened on freshwater).
