This zoom lens' AF response is really fast despite utilizing only a Micro Motor and
the focusing itself does not make a lot of noise, either, due to the improved quality.
In any case, if you need to resort to using manual focus, the focusing ring is provided
with a wider grip as compared to other EF lenses, including those Ring USM types
utilizing the FT-M (Full Time-Manual) feature.
Due to the zoom lens' lighter weight, users of entry-level models like the Canon
EOS 888, EOS 88, EOS 500N and the EOS 300 will find the EF 75-300mm lens suitable
since it will not be heavier than the cameras when they are left hanging from their
shoulders or necks. A heavy-duty lens like the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM zoom lens fitted
to any entry-level EOS body will turn the camera upside-down when the combination
is left dangling by the strap from one's neck or shoulder. Trust me, I have gone
through such experiences before.
Of course, like in any photographic situations, it is the photographer whose vision
of the scenes that he/she wishes to capture is what makes the difference between
a grossly inferior photo and one which is full of effect. So, your conceptualisation
of how the images should be captured on film with the EF 75-300mm zoom lens is, therefore,
very important.
