Automatic focusing
Canon Epoca 135's auto focusing (AI-AF mode with a 5-beam 3-point focusing system)
makes it possible to shoot a subject accurately even though it is off centred. A
range of 244 finely-set AF steps lets you shoot from 0.8 metre to infinity, ensuring
perfect clarity at every subject distance, even when the zoom lens is at the maximum
135mm position.
It even has an extra feature, RT (Real time shooting) unlike the conventional cameras
which have a delay of up to 200 milliseconds. The release time lag is reduced ten
times shorter than some cameras and this makes the camera ideal for capturing the
decisive moments in sports and action photography.
Zoom lenses
The strength of the Epoca 135 lies in its zoom lenses. You will experience what telephoto
photography is all about when you use the 38mm to 135mm lens range. The 135mm setting
makes distant subjects appear to be much nearer, making it possible to fill the frame
without moving closer with the camera. This has obvious advantages when photographing
animals, or other subjects which are difficult to approach. The telephoto setting
is also ideal for pictures of people.
On the other hand, the 38mm setting is ideal for indoor photography and for groups
of people. It lets you take in a wide expanse of the subject without having to move
too far back. And the fingertip zoom control on the camera allows you to set any
focal length between these two extremes, so that you can select the area of subject
you want to photograph, and omit the rest.
High-output
flash
Canon Epoca 135 is geared with a very powerful built-in flash that gives a guide
number up to 30 (ISO 100/meters) at the telephoto lens setting. The flash (focused
with a fresnel lens) coverage always matches the subject area without any waste because
the flash zooms with the lens. The FLASH OFF and FLASH ON mode gives you an option
to use the flash automatically at the absence and presence of light.
The Epoca 135 is the first lens-shutter camera to incorporate Advanced Automatic
Flash Control. This adjusts the light output and aperture value according to the
shooting distance. The result is reduced brightness of the flash at close shooting
distances and improved automatic flash exposure.
To make photography more convenient,
the Epoca 135 also comes with other remarkable features such as :-
