Canon Combines
Neo Classic Styling With Advanced Technology
Canon has used the benefits
of design skills from the IXUS range of Advanced Photo System cameras in the styling
of a new 35mm camera, the Prima Super 120. The Prima Super 120 is a lens shutter
camera with neo classic styling yet advanced features, a large 3.2x zoom lens, hybrid
autofocus system, Best Shot dial and powerful flash all incorporated into a compact
and slimline body.
The aluminium front panel and metallic lens barrel of the Prima Super 120 house a
powerful 38-120mm f/4.5-10.9 zoom lens that uses aspherical elements for superb contrast
and high image quality combined with up to 335 focusing steps for pin-point accuracy.
First introduced on the IXUS, the hybrid autofocus system employed
on the Prima Super 120 switches between active and passive systems to achieve the
sharpest image for objects. The hybrid autofocus system combines the advantages of
infra-red autofocus, which works well at close range and in low light while the passive
version can operate through glass and is highly accurate at longer distances.
In addition, the 3-point AiAF autofocus system enables the camera to focus on the
desired object, even when it is not in the middle of the frame. Alternatively, single
point central AF can also be selected. The "Best Shot" dial on the back
of the camera has seven settings.
