Each setting combines different
camera modes to give the ideal selection of functions for the subject such as Auto,
Action, Night, Portrait, Close-up, Spot and Personal modes.
- Full Auto - the ideal
setting for snapshots and general photography. It sets AiAF (Artificial Intelligent
Autofocus), low brightness flash, automatic backlight adjustment and red-eye
reduction. The red-eye mode can be switched off when not required.
- Action - the setting for
sports photography and fast moving subjects. It uses Servo AF to keep track of the
subject and provides continuous shooting at one frame per second to capture the action.
- Night - fires the flash
at the start of the exposure to illuminate nearby subjects, then leaves the shutter
open for up to four seconds to capture the detail of illuminated subjects.
- Portrait - always fires
the flash giving well-balanced exposures for subjects. The lens focal length adjusts
to give a constant magnification for half-length portraits.
- Close-up - allows focusing
at distances less than 0.45 metres (using ISO 100) shots can be taken at distances
up to infinity.
- Personal - allows users
to create their own Best Shot mode with settings such as flash mode and single point
AF or continuous shootings to suit the situation. These settings are retained even
if the batteries are removed.
The "Best Shot"
functions automatically select 3-point AiAF, one point central or Servo AF settings
to provide the best focusing method for different situations. The Light Guide flash
system, introduced for the first time on the IXUS Z70, is more efficient than normal
flash systems and, being smaller, is incorporated into the sleek design of the camera
to slide out automatically when the camera is turned on.
The flash extends horizontally when the camera is switched on and slides back when
it is switched off. It will cover subjects up to 4.1 metres away at wide-angle settings
and 2.4 metres with telephoto settings (using ISO 100 film). The recycling time is
approximately 3 seconds. The Prima Super 120 also features red-eye reduction, self-timer,
automatic exposure compensation of +/- 1.5 and dioptric adjustment of the viewfinder
from -3 to 0 dioptric. A Real Time release function allows for a shutter release
time of just 0.06 seconds - ideal for unexpected photo opportunities.
Caption Model
Printing of the date or time in the bottom right hand corner of photographs using
the built-in automatic calendar/clock (up to the year 2029) is possible with a Prima
Super 120 caption model. Three variations of date/month/year setting are available,
together with date/hour/minute. In addition, the Prima Super 120 caption model allows
users to print one of five pre-set captions (in four languages) onto their photographs.
Both caption and date can be printed together or the printing facility can be turned
off. The print option is indicated on the LCD panel on the back of the camera.
