In E-TTL autoflash mode, the preflash occurs the moment the shutter is released, with ambient light monitored and calculated. Correct flash output is instantaneously determined to obtain a balance between ambient light and flash. Even in complicated lighting situations, such as when an unusually strong reflection is detected outside the active focusing point's metering zone, flash exposure is correctly controlled. The EOS-1V demonstrates the full power of the E-TTL autoflash function with its 21-zone evaluative metering-linked focusing points. With the Speedlite 550EX fully equipped with E-TTL functions, the EOS-1V opens new horizons in flash photography by delivering results that print just like natural light. Speedlite 550EX With the Speedlite 550EX attached, the EOS-1V realizes consummate fully automatic flash photography. Wireless E-TTL autoflash control over multiple flash units, including output ratio control, and the ability to perform modeling flash, are some of the advantages of harnessing the Speedlite 550EXs to the EOS-1V.
