Silent Operation Silent operation is made possible by silent film transport. It is designed for taking photos in quiet environments. Built-in Flash There will be no more inconvenience of carrying a flash around. However, the camera is equipped with a hot shoe. An "AE" mark will automatically blink to indicate when the automatic flash is needed. Red-eye Reduction Function Red-eye reduction function is a bright built-in lamp which illuminates the subject before the flash fires to minimise "red-eye" effects. AIM System Specially designed and developed by Canon, the EOS 888's Advanced Integrated Multi-point Control (AIM) System captures images the way you see them. With the wide, three-point, autofocusing area, the exposure of flash exposure is set automatically at the in-focus point. This provides optimum focus and exposure settings of the subject - regardless of the composition. All you have to do is press the shutter button. Great Pictures Everytime With the Programmed Image Control (PIC) System, you can select different programme settings for a variety of subjects. Full Auto Programme Mode Ideal for snap shots, you can obtain excellent results as long as your subject is covered by the autofocus frame. The camera will check the focal length settings of the lens and choose a shutter speed which will reduce the effects of camera shake. Landscape Mode The small lens aperture selected by this mode brings everything into focus and is particularly suitable for sweeping mountain scenes, sunset shots and night scene photography. Portrait Mode This setting clearly emphasizes your subject in the foreground while the background remains softer. Sports Mode Ideal for a day at the races. You can freeze fast-moving subjects with the fast shutter speed. This keeps the subject in focus and allows for continuous exposures. Close-up Mode For clear, magnified pictures of flowers or pretty ornaments, this mode sets the lens to a small aperture for successful shots.
