Canon, the world leader in optical lens technology, has announced the arrival of its latest and most advanced digital camera to date, the Canon PowerShot Pro70, through its Malaysian subsidiary, Canon Marketing (M) Sdn. Bhd.

Sleek and ergonomic in design, the sophisticated Canon Powershot Pro70 will be a much sought after model by serious photographers, professional communicators and professional business users as it features the highest pixel count in its class with a 1.68 million pixels CCD sensor!

The camera's 1/2 inch mega-pixel CCD sensor produces images as large as 1536 X 1024 pixels which allows users to create up to 8 x 10 inch photographic printed output when using Canon's Bubble Jet printers.

Other remarkable features of this high flying model includes two CompactFlash (CF) card slots, which will come in handy for professionals who need high capacity storage memory facilities for uninterrupted
shooting.

For sports enthusiasts where speed is a prerequisite for capturing fast moving action shots, the Canon PowerShot Pro70 is a godsend as it has one of the fastest continuous shooting modes in its class. At 4 frames per second in continuous mode and up to 20 frames at a time (at 768 x 512 resolution), fast moving action shots is a breeze!

The Canon PowerShot Pro70's built-in 28-70mm f/2.0-2.4, 2.5X Power Zoom Lens provides users with useful features including high optical resolution, low distortion, true wide-angle capability and minimum aperture, making the Canon PowerShot Pro70 digital camera lens the fastest in its class.

These features offer an advantage over competitive models when working in tight spaces or shooting in low light with or without flash. Canon has also developed a new autofocusing system for the Canon PowerShot Pro70, similar to the TTL autofocus system used in the EOS SLR cameras.

Called "TTL Phase Differential Detection," Canon's technological breakthrough does not require additional sensors to achieve the fastest and most accurate autofocus in its class, which results in sharper images.

The advanced lens system offers a focal range of 4.7 inches to infinity in telephoto mode and 12.6 inches to infinity in wide-angle mode. The Canon PowerShot Pro70 uses a dedicated signal processing IC that only reduces the interval between shots but also retains finer detail in the resulting images.

The Canon PowerShot Pro70 features two levels of JPEG compression (Fine and Normal) as well as "CCD RAW" mode that records the highest resolution images using no compression. The camera provides the option of using either Canon's EOS 220EX and 380EX Speedlites, which offers the best results in situations where poor lighting conditions demands the best in lighting equipment available.

The PowerShot Pro70's stylish design draws on elements of Canon's top-selling EOS system with a large comfortable grip, conventional control layout including an easy to use Command Dial, a shutter button and a wired remote control socket as well as an optical viewfinder and two-inch colour active matrix LCD.

The LCD rotates 360 degrees for greater flexibility in composing shots such as close-ups or crowd photos and folds away neatly when not in use. The PowerShot Pro70 provides excellent flexibility, including near real-time video display (25 frames per second) for composing photographs as well as instant playback. Users also have the option of shutting off the LCD to extend battery life and can display images via a TV monitor through the video port.

Supplied accessories include an AC adapter, battery charger, rechargeable NiMH battery pack, serial cables for both PC and Macintosh, and a video out cable. The PowerShot Pro70 also accepts an optional, industry standard 2CR5 lithium battery, the same used in many popular EOS models.

Included software are Ulead PhotoImpact 4.0, PhotoStitch 2.1 (ver. 2.0 for Mac), TimeTunnel 2.2 (ver. 1.6 for Mac), SlideShow Maker 1.1, Zoom Browser, PhotoShop Plug-In 2.2 (Mac) and TWAIN 2.2. Operating system is based on Windows 95, NT 4.0 and Macintosh OS.

With a wide array of powerful and sophisticated features as its arsenal, the Canon PowerShot Pro70 is certainly THE Digital Camera for the Professionals at a very affordable price and definitely will be a deciding factor in convincing professionals that DIGITAL is THE NEXT STEP!!!
