Specifications

If you're ready, the Canon PowerShot S20 is too. Because brilliance radiates, not just from the camera, but also from the pictures it takes. This example of 21st Century digital sophistication is equipped with a 1/2-inch, 3.34 megapixel CCD, capable of truly dazzling photographs. And all of its genius is packed into a compact body so stunningly slim and portable, it's the world's smallest 3.34 megapixel optical zoom digital camera. It exudes elegance with its luxurious aluminium alloy body and champagne gold colour.

Digital photography's ready. Are you?
Turn it on and you'll notice a wonderfully useful 2x optical zoom with a built-in 2x/4x digital teleconverter for digital zooming up to 8x. Of course, since it's from Canon, all of this wondrous technology is simple to use with the celebrated Mode Dial and LCD monitor. Storing images is just as simple with a large capacity CompactFlash (CF) Type I and larger capacity Type II cards. Add to the PowerShot S20's thin profile and pocket size, it's engineered with a fully retractable, power-driven lens barrier built into the lens itself.

Focusing is a snap with nearly instantaneous and ultra-sharp TTL-AF through the lens' Auto Focus. And with the PowerShot S20's "plug-and-play" USM compatibility, PC and Mac connections are easier than ever. If you haven't been taken by digital photography yet, you will be now.

Dimensions
The PowerShot S20 is equipped with a 3.34 megapixel 1/1.8" Charge-Coupled Device (CCD). Captured images feature a high resolution of up to 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. The dimensions of Power Shot S20 are `05.4 (W) x 69.4 (H) x 33.8 (D) mm. Body weight is approximately 270 grams. These are exactly the same as the PowerShot S10. The PowerShot S20 is equipped with a high-quality 2x optical zoom lens of F2.9 (W) to F4.0 (T) with a focal length of 6.5 to 13 mm (32-64 mm equivalent to 35 mm film format), capable of shooting a wide range of images from scenery to snapshots.

Advanced DSP IC
Similar to the PowerShot S10, an advanced Digital Signal Processing IC that is capable of both high-speed processing and high-image quality is build into the PowerShot S20. The combination of this IC with buffer memory achieve a shutter interval of approximately 2.2. seconds (when using the optical viewfinder), even for high-resolution images.

Recording Pixels/Compression
The Power Shot S20 offers users the choice of three recording pixels (resolution settings) and three image compression levels (quality modes) to optimally suit their target application.

Images are stored in rewritable CompactFlash (CF) cards. The CF card slot of the PowerShot S20 supports both Type I and Type II CF cards. A 16MB CF card is bundled with PowerShot S20. The number of images that can be stored on a 16MB CF card are shown in the table below.
