Advanced features found in
the MV430(i) and MV450(i)
MultiMediaCard slot
Both the MV430(i) and MV450(i) also include a MultiMediaCard slot and 8 MB MultiMediaCard
card. Thus, in addition to capturing still images on a DV tape, a MultiMediaCard
(MMC) can also be used to record, store and retrieve still images. This slot provides
better PC affinity, because it allows simple transfer of these still images to a
PC, using a PC card adapter and card reader, without needing to connect to a PC by
a DV cable.
The MultiMediaCard is the smallest removable solid-state memory solution available.
When recording images on the MMC, users are able to select the most appropriate image
quality mode: Fine mode - for printing; or Standard mode - for viewing on a web site
or via e-mail. On the supplied 8MB MMC, as many as 43 images can be recorded in Fine
mode, while up to 78 images can be stored in Standard mode. The images recorded on
a memory card can then be transferred and combined with moving images on a DV tape,
and vice versa.
Compatibility with SD Memory Card
The MV430(i) and MV450(i) are Canon's first models to accept the new SD (secure
digital) memory card, which is a next generation storage medium featuring an advanced
built-in copyright protection function to protect digital contents. This new memory
card also enables high-speed access performance for large-capacity contents, such
as moving images, and has the ability to expand the recording capacity.
Progressive Photo System
Canon's Progressive Photo system in the MV430(i), MV450(i) model, provides excellent
digital picture quality. With this system, a mechanical shutter is used concurrently
with an interlace scan CCD to eliminate time lag blurring and capture clear and sharp
still images. The enhanced picture quality produced by progressive photo mode will
be especially evident when observing the printed digital images.
