| 2.2 Megapixel CCD with RGB Primary Colour Filter |
|
The core architecture of the MVX35i imaging system is comparable to the technology of a Canon dedicated digital still camera, mounting a RGB primary colour filter on a high-resolution 2.2 megapixel CCD. Images are processed by Canon's proprietary DIGIC DV chip, which processes moving video images and still photos independently, assuring maximum quality in both settings. The results are moving video with colour fidelity previously only attainable with 3 CCD system, and outstanding still images with 2.0 megapixel resolution. |

| 10x Optical Zoom Lens with E.I.S. |
|
To reach out to capture distant subjects, the MVX35i is equipped with a powerful 10x optical zoom lens featuring 12 elements in 10 groups including an aspherical lens with high-refraction, low-scattering glass and Super Spectra coating for reduced flare. For even greater reach, digital zoom is also provided, and can be set to a maximum of 40x for stills and up to 200x for movies. Both Auto and Manual focusing are provided, as well as a forced infinity setting.
At such high level of magnification, Electronic Image Stabilization is provided to help assure steady shake-free movies. Another lens innovation found in the MVX35i is an improved built-in neutral density filter that reduces light intensity without image blurring diffraction. |

|
| Night+ Mode and Super Night Mode |
|
The MVX35i features Night+ Mode and Super Night Mode for shooting in extreme low light conditions. Under dark conditions, slow shutter speeds are automatically selected to allow more ambient light to be recorded. |
| |
|
| Skin Detail Mode |
| |
When shooting close-ups of people, the camcorder automatically softens details to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections for a more complimentary appearance. Operation is as easy as switching this function on or off as needed. |

|
| Wide-Screen High-Resolution 16:9 Mode |
| |
With more and more consumers embracing the concept of "theatre at home" wide-screen TV, A high-resolution 16:9 shooting mode is provided that delivers sharp, clear images for full-screen playback in this format. Electronic image stabilization can be engaged in this shooting mode with approx. 1.38 megapixels. The other mode operates without image stabilization with approx. 1.5 megapixels but provides higher resolution. |

|
| MPEG-4 Recording |
| |
The MVX35i features MPEG-4 recording onto the memory card with 352 x 288 pixels and 176 x 144 pixels as selection at 12.5 frames/second. Copies can be made from the DV tape to the card enabling you to pick your favourite scenes recorded on the tape and attach them to an e-mail as a 'video card'. |

|
| Superior Sound with Digital Audio LSI |
| |
Enhanced sound recording is provided with a new Digital Audio LSI system that records powerful sounds with amazing clarity and realism. When shooting outdoors, an Auto Wind Cut function can be engaged that removes wind noise without degrading sound quality. Audio levels can be controlled automatically or manually, and an electronic level meter can be monitored in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. |
